The Lumber Industry

Printer-friendly versionSend to friend

For our clients in the lumber industry, a common shipping challenge is not being able to ship enough product via an over-the-road trailer due to weight restrictions. Therefore, many of our clients turn to railcar shipping to lower their shipping costs. And while shipping by railcar helps solve the problem of weighing out before cubing out, the damage possibilities due to humping railcars open up a whole new problem to consider. But, DPC is prepared for the challenge.

Every DPC dunnage product is thoroughly tested and approved by the Association of American Railroads (AAR), meeting governing regulations while protecting your products in transit. This allows you to take advantage of lower shipping costs while avoiding the high costs of in-transit damage.

Void fillers are used along with honeycomb panels to fill both lateral and longitudinal voids and secure the load in transit. Air bags are placed between pallets, along with honeycomb panels that buffer the air bags, to secure the product in transit and prevent longitudinal movement. Protecto-Spacers, which are versatile honeycomb panels that fold back on themselves, are also used to take up longitudinal voids.
