Trailer - Case Goods
Client: Quaker
Problem:
Quaker, a division of PepsiCo and a leading manufacturer of food and beverages often suffers the problem of weighing out before cubing out in over-the-road and intermodal transportation.
In an effort to optimize freight expense, Quaker chose to weight-out the trailer creating the need for a transition (step-down) from double-stacked freight to single-stacked pallets near the end of the truck. This step-down configuration exposes Quaker product to the risk of shifting and damage.
Solution:
Here is an example of a customized load securement solution we have created for Quaker when shipping over-the-road or intermodal.
By securing the last double-stacked pallet with an air bag and Protecto-Cell Panels, a bulkhead is created for extra support. The use of DPC's Protecto-Wood Panels mitigates the risk of longitudinal shifting and secures the freight for both over-the-road and intermodal transport.
