Over-the-Road Shipping

Over-the-road shipping by truck is a preferred method of shipping, perfect for time-sensitive products or when your product does not require the higher shipping weight capabilities of rail.

But the ride can be rough. Sharp turns, hard stops, speed bumps, railroad tracks and poor driving can all instigate product shifting and compression damage for which you need to be prepared.

And more than the damaged product, there's the cost to ship the damaged product back and restock it, the time delay, the potential injury to your workers caused from unloading a trailer full of damaged or shifted product, and perhaps most important of all, the potential loss of a customer after they receive a damaged load.

DPC has you covered. All of our dunnage products are designed to secure your products in transit and help you prevent the high costs of damaged freight.

These products include:

  • Void Fillers: corrugated load securement products that fill the gaps in your truck for securing products in transit
  • Honeycomb Panels: superior strength buffer pads used for filling voids and adding protection for products in over-the-road transit
  • Air Bags: easy-to-inflate, double-wall air bags secure products in place for excellent protection during over-the-road transit
  • Honeycomb Pallets: innovative honeycomb pallets provide a strong, lightweight and cost-effective alternative to wooden and plastic pallets
  • Tier 55: specialized panel designed to protect double-stacked 55-gallon steel drums in over-the-road transit
  • and other customized products to fit your specific loads

Here is an example of a load securement solution created for preventing the high costs of damaged freight when shipping over-the-road.

Void fillers are positioned between the palletized product to secure the load and alleviate side-to-side shifting in transit. Protecto-Cell Panels are also used in conjunction with air bags to fill the underhang on pallets, along with a saddlepack void filler that is placed over a shingle in the nose of a trailer for extra protection and to prevent side-to-side product shifting.
